Budget Truck Loading Guide: Tips From Our U-Haul Loading Help Aurora Crews
Quick answer: Budget rents trucks in about 12, 16 and 26 ft sizes. Load the heaviest, largest pieces first against the front wall, build tight tiers of boxes floor to ceiling, and strap the load every few feet. Confirm the size and whether it has a loading ramp when you reserve. 2 Rocket Services helpers are $149/hr with a 2-hour minimum.
Which Budget size?
Every move is different, but as a guide:
About 12 ft: a studio or small 1-bedroom
About 16 ft: a 1 to 3-bedroom, depending on furniture
About 26 ft: a 3 to 5-bedroom
If you're between sizes, the bigger truck is usually easier to load well than an overpacked smaller one.
How to load it
Heavy furniture and appliances go first, against the front wall.
Stack boxes in tight tiers, heaviest on the bottom, from wall to wall.
Stand mattresses and sofas on end along the sides.
Strap each tier so nothing slides when you brake or turn.
Keep a path clear until the end so the crew isn't climbing over boxes.
Put the things you need first on moving day at the back.
Before the crew arrives
Pick up the truck before the crew's arrival window, since time starts when the crew arrives.
Park as close to the door as you legally can.
Have boxes packed and taped and drawers emptied on heavy dressers.
How many helpers?
2 helpers handle most studios to 2-bedrooms in about 2 to 4 hours. Bigger homes, stairs and items over 300 lb go faster with 3 or 4. Every job is unique, so the office confirms the crew when you book.
